Intro

Bridging the gap between data and discovery. I'm proud to be part of Pittsburgh's transformation from the leading steel town of the Industrial Revolution to its Tech Revolution with its focus on "Eds and Meds" (education and medical innovation). Having worked in the tech industry for companies such as PPG, UPMC, and the University of Pittsburgh, I've come to love working in a research environment where my skills can be applied to discover things that have never been done before. Work

A few examples of work I've done and apps I've made:

PYTHON - Copy Files To Folders
Copies subject files (or a select list of subject files) from one location to another and creates select subfolders if necessary. These could be images, videos, recorings, or anything else with a subject's ID on it.

PYTHON - Random Raters
Randomly assign subjects to up to 10 raters. You can specify what percentage of the list each rater takes on. Also allows for assigning a percentage of subjects for inter-rater reliability.

PYTHON - Detect File Updates
Detects all file updates or additions in a given folder and its subfolders compared to the last time the program was run.

PYTHON - Age App
Calculates a person's age to 3 decimal place.

About

I'm a Data Engineer and Developer for the University of Pittsburgh in the Center for Craniofacial and Dental Genetics (CCDG). We do research on the genetics of oral facial clefts, dental caries, and other facial abnormalities and birth defects. I organize the data collected in our studies and develop custom made apps to meet the needs of the center. My core competencies include SQL, Python, R, C#, PowerBI, with exceptional expertise in Microsoft Access and Excel. I've also been known to dabble in SAS, VBA, and batch programming. My previous work experience was involved with the UPMC Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic for the Depression and Manic Depression Prevention Program (DMDPP) under the direction Dr. Ellen Frank where we researched treatments for depression and bipolar disorder, the UPMC Health Plan Complaints and Grievances Department, and the PPG Global IT Help Desk. When I'm not working on my own code, practicing code, or looking at someone else's code, I enjoy running, biking, reading, traveling, and practicing fingerstyle guitar.
